WHY WE DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY IN DAYCARE AND PRESCHOOL PORTRAITS... In Preschools and Daycares, all those precious
little children just love to laugh and play happily all through the day - right
up until the instant when someone aims a camera at them and they resort to the
classic dreaded big "cheese" smile, or worse... Kids are like little radar dishes that usually can instantly see right through someone who does not truly want to be dealing with them, and they often react accordingly. That's where some other "big" photo companies burned out, grumpy, or short-tempered photographers lose the battle quickly - and their pictures show it too often. Thankfully, most children react in the complete opposite way when presented with someone who sincerely enjoys interacting and communicating with them right down at their level. Even the most tearful 2 year old in the midst of a total tantrum can almost always be distracted and encouraged to have good looking portraits taken when they are dealing with a sincere photographer who has both a tremendous amount of gentle, positive patience and who is not afraid to get right down on the floor and be as silly as a goose when needed to make that particular child feel at ease and have a good time during a sitting. Eric Ilasenko is a professional photographer with the experience and eye to get great portraits of your students, but more importantly he is a someone who was blessed with a unique gift for relating to youngsters of all ages and encouraging them to do their best when in front of his camera. Many teachers are shocked at the extra efforts Eric will go to in order to get a shy or tantrum-throwing student to settle down and "play" for a few minutes in order to get some truly great pictures of even the most difficult subjects. The comments we hear back most often from teachers are about being amazed at how well the children responded to a MAN (gasp!) over a woman photographer (it's all in the heart, folks!) and how Eric seems to have the patience of a saint. It is difficult to describe in words, but the years Eric spent photographing babies, school students, and pets in his photography career all give him a unique air of confident patience about himself that most youngsters pick up on instantly and react positively too.
